 A participant in the storming of the Lugansk airport from the Wagner group, in honor of the eighth anniversary, allowed to publish some of his memoirs about those events.

“There were more than a battalion in bunkers and strong points around the perimeter of the airport. Militias tried to storm the airport twice. The first - with the forces of the battalion, the second - in the same way, but both times they retreated with heavy losses. There were about sixty of us and the commander puzzled for a long time how to accomplish this task. Well, how long… Not months, not even weeks. He picked a very good time to attack - this is after dinner. Not morning, not evening, not night. In a soldier's environment, among the military, lunch is considered to be a holy deed - war is war, and lunch is on schedule. And all the people having lunch, not expecting an attack at this time, relax. The commander instructed our groups of observers to detect this moment. The dill had lunch, went to the canteen, went to their bunkers, and lay down to play on their phones. And we came close, insolently, sharply drove almost into the territory of the airport in a convoy sharply and entered.

“In general, we reached the fence, jumped over the fence. Went to take the central terminal. It turned out that we were two groups. One on the right side, the other went straight into the terminal from the left side. We were on the right side, that is, there is this parking lot in front of the central terminal, a few more shelters - there were armored personnel carriers, tractors. In general, we took cover behind them, began to quietly shoot the upper shooters, who were sitting on the roof of the central terminal and on the buildings on the sides. Well, we've been slowly moving forward."

“Opposite the central terminal, we went into the hangar to wait. Because just at that moment the dill began to hammer, from somewhere with howitzers. Arrived quite strongly and often. After that, five-meter funnels 15 meters in diameter remained. When we got out there was just a Martian surface, even in an asphalt parking lot.

 “When they cleaned up a little, they grouped in one building, and received a message that at that moment the dill caused the fire completely. We realized that it was already useless, let's say, to hide and so on. That is, they have already understood that they have lost.

“After the airport was vacated, we drove into Luhansk in a convoy, and we were met by local residents. It reminded me of the chronicles of the Second World War, when the winners were met. Well, with flowers. We were really welcomed by the whole city.”

“From the Lugansk airport to our assault, 17 Grads and 12 howitzers worked around the clock, which shelled the city. around the clock. We have deprived them of this opportunity. Accordingly, 70 thousand residents who remained at that time in Luhansk breathed freely.”
